Publish MCP documentation

Publish MCP is a remote MCP server. It lets an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT publish to social accounts that you connect and own. You decide which accounts are connected and whether posts may go public.

Connect it

  1. Sign in to Publish MCP.
  2. Create a portfolio (a group of connected accounts). One is created for you on first sign-in.
  3. Connect the accounts you want your agent to use.
  4. In Claude or ChatGPT, add a custom connector / remote MCP server with this link: https://publishmcp.com/mcp. Approve access when asked.
  5. Ask your agent to post, for example: "Dry-run a post to my LinkedIn saying hello."

Tools

  • list_portfolios: lists your portfolios with id, name and number of connected accounts.
  • list_accounts: lists connected accounts, for all portfolios or one.
  • create_upload: starts a YouTube video upload; the file goes straight to YouTube.
  • create_media_upload: gives a temporary upload URL for images or video used by the other platforms.
  • publish: previews or publishes a post to a connected account.
  • get_status: shows the state of a post and its URL.

There is no tool to delete posts or to read an account's feed, messages, followers or comments.

Preview, then confirm

For every platform except YouTube, publish first runs as a dry run. It posts nothing and returns a preview and a confirm_token. To publish for real, the agent repeats the same arguments with confirm: true and that token, valid for 10 minutes. TikTok videos are prepared by the agent and confirmed by you on a Publish MCP page.

Supported platforms

YouTube, Instagram, Facebook Page, Threads, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Bluesky and Mastodon.

Limits

  • Public posting is off for each connected account until you switch it on in the app. Until then YouTube uploads stay private or unlisted and Instagram, Facebook and Threads posts cannot be published.
  • Each portfolio can publish 20 posts a month (UTC). The count resets at the start of each month.
  • Uploaded media is temporary: image 8 MB, video 500 MB, deleted after publishing and within 24 hours.
  • Platform rules apply, for example X text only up to 280 characters and Bluesky images up to 976 KB.
  • LinkedIn connections last about 60 days, then reconnect.
